CASE STUDY: Cup Song Berens River

Independent filmmaker Randy Guest was commissioned to conceptualize and direct a cover of the Cup Song with students from the remote Northern Manitoba community of Berens River.

The concept aimed at emphasizing the strength and resiliency of these first nations kids and their capacity to overcome and thrive against the odds of their circumstance and environment.

The children are one with the land, the earth and the river. The decay of their world does not define them, and with a strong, eduring sense of empowerment, music, unity, and celebration, they “call”, with the cups, to the singer and guitarist from the land with which they are  forever united.
